Episode 8: Allergies   This week we review another song from the 2008 “Snacktime” album. We get to hear Tyler writing and singing.  We have a few “celebrity” guests drop in, but don’t worry, they can’t hurt you over the radio waves.

  1. This podcast stinks. You guys really need to improve the sound quality and incessant giggling. You make a show about a topic I’m interested in virtually unlistenable!!

    1. Wow… ok. Thank you for the comment. As the editor, can you give me some constructive feedback about the audio? I would really like to fix the problem. I am new at editing so it is important to me to improve the quality of the show in any way that I can. Any other constructive criticism you have would be very welcome.

  2. Happy to give constructive feedback. Almost every episode I’ve listened to has had feedback from the mics. The sound quality, particular from “Bobby”, is poor. When he starts to talk, you can hear audible distortion. It’s very distracting. As far as the sophormoric jokes, that’s a content problem that could be easiest fixed if you wanted (again, Bobby is the main offender in this area).

    1. Thank you for the feedback. I heard that problem (and saw it on the editing program) but was trying to fix it with some editing magic. It wasn’t working and I couldn’t hear it on my speakers. Let me know if the problem with Bobby’s (and my) mics continue. I think I have found the problem and we are a few weeks ahead in production right now, so it didn’t get “solved”(if the problem is accurate) until Aluminum, which is up tomorrow. As far as the sophomoric jokes, we’ll that is Bobby’s sense of humor, which I love. I hope it is not too offensive to you that you will stop listening.

    2. Thank you for the feedback. Bobby is on hiatus (his choosing due to show-external issues) and we have worked significantly on the microphone issues. if you would like to try one of our newer episodes, please let us know if you have feedback.

  3. I’m gonna start backdating comments, as I am now onto Episode 36: Brian Wilson, and I just feel the overwhelming urge to make my own comments on some of these episodes, so sorry if some of my facts and memory are wrong about episodes that are now a few weeks in my past.

Interesting fact about this song, that I feel like never got mentioned was Weird Al’s vocal guest spot on this song! Even though it was only a few lines, I absolutely love that they got Weird Al on this, especially since you guys HAVE talked about Al in a couple episodes.

Also, thanks for putting out this podcast, because putting aside any minor audio issues in the first few episodes, I really love this approach to the BNL catalogue. Though I have definitely taken a few issues to some of the ratings put out for some of the songs!

    1. Which lines? I couldn’t find any reference to it

    2. And also, thank you for not only listening to our podcast but responding to these posts. It was always my dream that this would become a conversation center. And I still hope it becomes that. May your first post not be your last and may it encourage others to do the same!

      1. I think this is a great location for people to comment and add their opinions! I need to debate if I like this better than Facebook for it. One day my goal is to go back through and add my own rating for each song. Just for SnG’s, haha.

Regarding Weird Al, I’m 98% certain that the liner notes indicate him on this song for vocals (also he is a caller on the song “Snacktime”)

        I believe his lines are:
        Al:
“I get all itchy and I start to wheeze
Even if I see a slice of cheese”

        Tyler:
        “A slice of cheese?”

        Al:
        “I start to wheeze!”

        1. Man… I wish you had brought this up 2 months ago when I met Weird Al. I could have asked him! He isn’t credited anywhere on the album.

        2. That could be, but it also sounds like Tyler doing his nasally voice (not his real voice) that he sometimes uses. The voice you have down as Tyler is actually Kevin.

          1. I’ve checked everywhere. I cannot for the life of me determine where I heard or read0 that, 11 years ago is a long time now. I’m pretty sure you are right and I am wrong.

Sad day for me, I have always enjoyed thinking that was Al in this song!
